OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. This is Southeast Chicago Chamber of Commerce (“SCCC”) – Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs and Start-ups $500 Fast Pitch Contest.
  2. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase does not increase the chances of winning.
  3. Eligibility Requirements. This Contest is open to all who register for our Access-to-Capital event held on June 23, 2018. To be eligible for a chance to win, each contestant must submit a typed business plan to SCCC no later than June 16, 2018. Review of the typed business plan must show preparedness in opening and/or operating your business.
  4. Employees of SCCC, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and suppliers, (collectively the “Employees”), are not eligible to participate in the Contest. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and void where prohibited.
  5. Agreement to Rules. By participating, You agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Rules and Regulations, and You represent and warrant that You meet the eligibility requirements. In addition, You agree to accept the decisions of the volunteer professional judging panel as final and binding as it relates to the content of this Contest.
  6. If You use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the rules and regulations, your submission may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of SCCC.
  7. Submission Period. Business plan submissions will be accepted via email, regular postal delivery or hand-delivery starting now and ending June 16, 2018 by postmark.
  8. How does the contest work? This is a one-day event, in which people try to win by doing something better than others. Contestants will deliver a 5-minute fast business pitch in front of a live audience before an elimination. Guests vote on who moves to the next round. Only four (4) participants move to the second and final round to be judge by a panel of five (5) professionals.
  9. Winner selection. This Contest rewards preparedness and one (1) winner will be determined during the last and final judging round to be the best 5-minute business pitch. The panel of five (5) professionals are not employees of SCCC. In the event of a tie, an elimination round will be held to improve the selection of one (1) contest winner.
  10. The remaining three (3) finalists can qualify to receive a #scccGetSocial media package that consists of online promotion support through SCCC during the remainder of the contest calendar year.
  11. Odds. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and verified.
  12. Prize Delivery. The delivery of the prize shall be within 30 days after the date of event on June 23, 2018. SCCC office will notify winner by telephone and winner makes an appointment to get prize.
  13. The prize is nontransferable. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation, any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of Winner. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted except at SCCC’s
  14. If Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within 60 days from the time award notification is sent, or fails to timely return a completed and executed declaration and release as required, the prize may be forfeited and no alternate Winner will be selected. Any violation of these official rules by winner (at SCCC‘s sole discretion) will result in winner’s disqualification, and all privileges as winner will be immediately terminated.
  15. Winner verification. Winner must submit their current business plan one week before the event or no later than 6/16/18 to the attention of: Program Manager, Southeast Chicago Chamber of Commerce, 8334 S. Stony Island Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60617. At SCCC’s discretion, an incomplete business plan and registration is subject to rejection and disqualifies entrant from continuing in the Contest.
  16. Acceptance of Prize constitutes permission for SCCC to use Winner’s name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
  17. Rights Granted by You. By entering this Contest (e.g., via business plan submission), You understand and agree that SCCC, anyone acting on behalf ofSCCC, and SCCC’s licensees, successors, and assigns, shall have the right, where permitted by law, to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use in any media now known or hereafter developed, without limitation, your entry, name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image, statements about the Contest, and biographical information for news, publicity, information, trade, advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes, without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent.
  18. By entering this Contest, You represent and warrant that your entry is an original work of authorship, and does not violate any third party’s proprietary or intellectual property rights. If your entry infringes upon the intellectual property right of another, You will be disqualified. If the content of your entry is claimed to constitute infringement of any proprietary or intellectual proprietary rights of any third party, You shall, at your sole expense, defend or settle against such claims. You shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SCCC from and against any suit, proceeding, claims, liability, loss, damage, costs or expense, which SCCC may incur, suffer, or be required to pay arising out of such infringement or suspected infringement of any third party’s right.
  19. Other Terms & Conditions.SCCC reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest should virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond SCCC’s control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Contest. SCCC has the right to maintain the integrity of the Contest, to void votes for any reason, including, but not limited to: multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Contest rules; or the use of bots, macros, scripts, or other technical means for entering. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such attempt be made, SCCC reserves the right to seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  20. Limitation of Liability. By entering, You agree to release and hold harmlessSCCC and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from: (i) such entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware/software, or other mechanical equipment; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the promotion; (v) electronic or human error in the administration of the promotion or the processing of entries.
  21. Disputes. This Contest is governed by the laws of Cook County, Illinois, without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, You agree that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in Cook County, Illinoishaving jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances shall You be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorney’s fees, other than participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Contest). You further waive all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
  22. Privacy Policy. Information submitted with an entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated in these Rules and Regulations.
  23. Winners List: To obtain a copy of the Winner’s name or a copy of these Official Rules, mail your request along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Program Manager, Southeast Chicago Chamber of Commerce, 8334 S. Stony Island Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60617. Requests must be received no later than 90 days after Contest ends.
  24. Sponsor. The Contest sponsor is Southeast Chicago Chamber of Commerce and is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other media outlet thereof.
